Thank You for Trusting Us with Your Care Today
We begin with what matters most helping the patient move safely in bed, according to their ability with a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), under a plan designed by a Physical Therapist (PT) — gradually, without forcing, and with consistency.
Why Bedside Exercise Is Important
- Reduces the risk of joint stiffness and muscle tightness caused by prolonged bed rest
- Supports blood circulation and breathing in a steady rhythm
- Gradually restores confidence in independent movement for simple daily activities
- The goal is correct, safe, and consistent movement not completing the greatest amount in a single day
What Does a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Do During Bedside Exercise?
- Gentle warm-up and short breathing exercises
- Gentle stretching to reduce tightness
- Assisted joint movement, including the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles(without forcing)
- Supported sitting-balance practice on the bed or at the bedside
- Whenever the patient feels tired, pause and rest then begin again — short periods of activity performed consistently
Safety Comes Before Goals
- Closely monitor breathing, fatigue level, and pain throughout the activity
- Use appropriate support equipment and positioning pillows to reduce the risk of falls and repeated injury
- At the end of each session, we provide a brief progress note so the family can follow the patient’s development
KIN How Are We Different?
- A Physical Therapist creates an individualized plan • A Physical Therapist Assistant provides hands-on exercise support following each planned step
- Every session includes clear safety rules and designated rest points
- Families receive regular updates and can see progress step by step
- Our approach to care focuses onnot overworking or rushing the patient and helping them complete practical activities that are appropriate for that day
Patient Compliments Are Our Encouragement
“The gentleman asked his relative to tell us: You did very well. I liked the session… Thank you.”
